Top 5 Easiest Plants To Grow In Your Garden

Hey everyone! While we were starting some more of our seedlings today we started a little discussion.

Where are we going to plant all of them?

Why are some doing better than others?

Then a fun talk about which plants always flourish on our farm.

So we decided to write a little something about some plants that produce food that would also be easy for you yourself to grow. Many people are staying away from the grocery store right now and maybe this will give you a few ideas for your own household or tummies.

#5 LETTUCE/GREENS

From seed in merely weeks to a month your lettuce with be looking good. You can also harvest throughout the season. All you have to do is continue to take off the outer leaves and leave "the heart" of the plant. You will have salad for you or your chickens throughout the summer. It's Number 5 because you have to keep it watered and also be sure to keep pests away. A little upkeep.

#4 TOMATOES

Once a again from seeds, in a month you can have a happy little tomato plant. Once they start blossoming you will soon have many tomatoes. You can use them in salad, on a sandwich, make spaghetti sauce, salsa, chili, or can them for the winter. Number 4 because it will take a little while to produce a tomato.

#3 RHUBARB

One of the coolest easiest plants. They like sun/some shade. I water it with my flowers every 3 days or so in the summer. Ours grows huge every year and many stems. You can make pies, jelly, and also can it for winter use. Delicious!

#2 HERBS

Super easy again. We have our herb boxes on the deck for easy kitchen use. We plant garlic, chives, dill, oregano, parsley. Our chives have already came back for this year, the smell is undeniable when you come in from out back. Make sure they have water and it's that easy. All of them can be cut and dried for year round use.

#1 ZUCCHINI

The easiest plant ever!!!!! I swear, plant and water. Even when you think you may have lost the plant, months later there's a flower, then another, and another. It is almost never ending. We feed them to the chickens, make bread ,make zucchini noodles, so many endless recipes. Our neighbor makes the best chocolaty zucchini cookies! Yum!

We are excited for our garden this year! We also built a greenhouse that will help grow food well into the fall. Here's a video of some seedlings and the beginning of the greenhouse.

We hope you enjoy and that this gives you some ideas of some plants you can successfully grow.
