Dog Treats. Are they safe for my pup with all of the additives these days?

Updated: Aug 22, 2023

It's not a secret that Dogs love to eat and with that they love their treats. As their providers and caregivers what are we actually feeding our pets? Many of the popular Dog treats on the market are filled with words that we either can not pronounce or we have to google just to know what they are.

In our family we are really trying hard to get away from packaged foods and eat cleaner. Getting away from dye # 2,5,8,9,100...so why wouldn't we also try to provide our Dogs with all natural treats as well.

So I went to the kitchen and started to formulate some new recipes. With controversy in the "Dog World" on if peanut butter is good for your pup; I decided to stay away from it. I took into consideration several points of perspective: how it smells, how there breath would smell after, how will it benefit them, could I use all natural products, could I create a treat for a smaller breed dog and also one that my Mastiffs would enjoy to chomp on, what would they be packaged in, and how to make them cost effective.

The First Dog Treat Is Sweet Puptatoes.

These treats are a softer chew, like the texture of a drier home made biscuit. These were created for the pup that may need some extra help in the health department. All ingredients are there on purpose, not for a filler, but to add nutrients.

They are paw shaped. They smell like a cheesy herb filled biscuit.

The ingredients include: sweet potatoes, parsley, rice, eggs, coconut oil, and hemp seed.

The Second Dog Treat Is Puppermints.

These treats are a little more firm and have a decent crunch but break apart easily. These were created with good breath in mind, but since then we have also used them to settle an upset stomach.

With three Mastiff dogs we have been through the long list of treats for good breath and did not like that there was added coloring. However in these treats the real mint is what adds the color naturally. They are paw shaped and provide a quick treat to your pup. They smell like a freshly baked mint cookie

The ingredients include: coconut oil, mint, parsley, oatmeal, and farm raised eggs.

The Third Dog Treat Is Pupkins.

This was an easy one to come up with....since we grow and run a pumpkin patch! These treats were created to help us replace the good old multi-colored dog bones. These bones are crunchier than the other two but will dissolve easily for your dog's digestive system. Each treat is hand pressed in the shape of a bone. They smell like a baked oatmeal bar with notes of fall.

The ingredients include: farm raised eggs, oatmeal, and pumpkin puree.

Like everything we do here on the farm...these treats were all created with a purpose. To create a healthy alternative to all of the packaged dog treats out there. Owners will know what are actually in the treats they are feeding to their furmembers in the family. Every single treat was hand mixed and baked in our kitchen on the farm. Every bag is a 5 oz bag and we fit as many treats as we can in each one without crushing them. If you have kids and they get into the dog treats...we all know someone..rest easy because they are indeed all foods from the kitchen. If your dog eats the whole lot of treats he/she will be just fine. All ingredient measurements are in moderation. The best way to keep these dog treats are in the freezer until use. However please remember that theses treats are intended as treats and not their main food. All treats are sold on here at our farm store or -Click Here- to order.

Take a minute and look at the back of your dog treats....what is actually in them?
