#3 A BIG REASON

I LOVE TO PLAN!!

I'm not just talking about budgeting(which I also love)

I'm talking about giving everything a purpose and place.

My Grandma Kemp use to tell me:

"Stop trying to plan it all, God is laughing because he already has it planned".

While I try to listen to these kind words of wisdom. I rarely do! It is in my bones to plan and orchestrate. However I believe she would be proud to know how organized my home currently is.

I believe A BIG PART of taking on homesteading with a young family is scheduling...when to wake up, eat, do chores, feed animals, drive to the school bus, finish chores, etc. If you throw off even one part of the schedule the whole thing gets out of wack. Making this schedule a lot easier is our home being organized. When everything has its purpose and place the day runs a lot smoother for everyone.

We still have fun....don't worry :)

One thing that helped us out this year was adding on a little addition. It really helped us to get a few pieces of our house in order. I used an App which I recommend to everyone. It is called Room Planner.

You can use for any room design, not just an addition, but for different wall textures or to see if new furniture will fit.

Below are the layouts I made on the App (top row)and the actual photos of the new room bottom row).

Pretty close huh? So now instead of just a place to store a washer and dryer and some craft items...we now have:

~a laundry room with folding table

~craft room storage and a craft table

~a sewing table

~an utility tub

~3 huge kennels for our Mastiffs

~a coat rack

~a backpack rack

~a beauty salon section with storage (I am also a hairdresser)

~Our 3 Mastiff dog kennels double as a base for our folding table~

Having this new area with organized purpose helps us to keep our day efficient. Then when we get to planting a garden, harvesting crops, or delivering Mastiff puppies; our daily life and schedule will be a lot more manageable. We hope this gives you lots of ideas about making your areas and items in your house have a purpose and function, like they should. Maybe this will help some fellow homesteaders!

Remembering Grandma's advice and wondering if she would be proud of my planning...would she? Wilson Wonders
